Partnering With Informatica Is Getting Easier

Envisioning a New Partner Portal

With the day I joined Informatica in January 2017, I had the great pleasure of working on the exciting project of designing a new Partner Relationship Management solution combined with the new Partner Activity and Resource Center (PARC).

New and Improved User Interface

Leading a gigantic project like this was incredibly demanding and it sometimes resembled a roller coaster ride.  It required lots of agility to overcome challenges related to software or functional limitations, forcing us to find a healthy balance between simplicity and complex system processes for both, Partner users and Informatica internal users.

Platform Tailored to Partner Needs

The goal was not only to create a new Partner Portal that was easier to use, but would also allow for future enrichment by adding features and functionality to make partnering with Informatica more rewarding. It was a tall order, and after much debating and reviewing options in the beginning, building the new partner portal using Salesforce.com Communities nearly from scratch was the best and most effective way to tailor a solution that fits existing Partner Programs for Consultants & System Integrators, Resellers, and Value Add Distributors. And, with the dawn of the new PARC, ISV and OEM Partners are now also invited to delve into the new portal experience.

All of this was primarily focused around systematic functionality and processes, but it was still lacking sophisticated content management. But there was light at the end of the tunnel. Informatica had developed deep expertise and success with Adobe Experience Manager, so it made sense to standardize on the same platform that is already used for Informatica’ s corporate website, and allowing us to share existing digital assets with multiple audience types.

Introducing New Features

The new PARC shows a completely refreshed user interface, which has been designed and aligned to our corporate website. With the portal redesign, content and portal pages have been consolidated for easier access to information. Users will notice more relevant information as we are building content and page personalization, which allows us to better align information to users’ roles and their partner relationship types. And to improve user experience for those hooked to tablets and mobile devices, the new PARC comes in a responsive design and can be accessed from any device, as well as from anywhere at any time.

Partners will benefit from additional improvements and features like:

  • Dashboards provide visibility into deal registrations and opportunity pipeline
  • Revenue tracking against annual and quarterly goals
  • Optimized deal registration form with fewer fields for quicker completion
  • More self-service capabilities.

Building on a Strong Foundation for Future Enhancements

I am proud to have reached this first goal, working alongside a terrific development team of our Global System Integrator Partner Deloitte and Informatica Teams. We will continue to improve the new partner experience, and add more features and more functionality in the coming months and years. Enhancing our partner fund portal and management, a deeper integration with the Learning and Management System, and automating more processes are some of the next items on our PARC roadmap.
