Highlights from Informatica World 2018
Third Time’s a Charm!
After attending my third Informatica World, I have to say this was BEST. And, based on comments from the partners I spoke with, I’m not alone. While we may have left our hearts in San Francisco, we found an ideal place to disrupt, intelligently, at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
Between the standing room only Market Perspective Day, captivating main stage keynotes, and breakout sessions aligned to customer journeys, this Informatica World offered countless opportunities for partners to learn, touch base with customers, and meet with Informatica sales and executive attendees in the Partner Zone.

Market Perspectives Day
We kicked off IW 18 with an “Outside-In” view of market trends. The “standing room only” Market Perspectives Day featured Gartner analysts and panel discussions about the latest trends and thought-provoking ideas on:
We also heard from customers and partners, including Amazon, Deloitte, Genomic Health, Merck, Morgan Stanley, PayPal, Tableau, and Toyota, who shared details of their journeys and how they’ve been delivering great business outcomes with Informatica.
Day One: Opening Keynote Replay
Major Announcement – iPass for Microsoft Azure: Scott Guthrie, Microsoft’s executive vice president and head of the Cloud & AI Group, joined Anil Chakravarthy onstage to unveil the industry’s top iPaaS hosted on Azure – featuring one-click data migration to the cloud, with a discovery-driven approach for Microsoft Azure customers.
Spring launch Product GA – Amit Walia, President of Products and Strategic Ecosystems unveiled the general availability of the following
Innovation Award Winners – Congratulations to Ford, the winner of our inaugural Intelligent Disruptor of the Year award. Ford is leveraging many components of Informatica’s Intelligent Data Platform (IDP) to deliver transformative business insights, with the IDP providing a “one-stop-shop” comprehensive view for data exploration, empowering data analysts to build actionable plans consistently and efficiently, and saving valuable data analysts’ time.

Day Two: Closing Keynote Replay
Celebrating Informatica’s 25th Year – Sally Jenkins, CMO, kicked off the Closing General Session with a look to the past, present and future. As a tribute to our first 25 years, she announced the Informatica Next 25 Initiative, focused on fostering the growth and success of 25 sixth-grade students from Cashman Middle School, who have shown a propensity for success in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) – and data! The initiative is a 7-year commitment that will include critical elements such as direct student engagement, family involvement, Genius Camps and one-on-one activities designed to foster growth and prepare them for college.
Intelligent Disruptor Customer Panel – Amit Walia hosted the Intelligent Disruptors customer panel with KPN, Bank of New Zealand, and Toyota.
Unleashing the Power of AI and Metadata – Amit also shared our vision for the future of CLAIRE and the power of intelligent metadata. His demo showcased how we can make the impossible, possible with the help of AI and metadata.
theCube – 27 Interviews
Peter Burris and John Furrier were live in the Solutions Expo providing commentary and pithy interview questions for Informatica Executives, Partners and Customers. Hear their stories and perspectives to get insights into all that was happening at Informatica World and their points of view on how to drive the next intelligent disruption.
