Informatica Named a Leader in Metadata Management by Gartner for the 4th Consecutive Year

Gartner recently published its 2019 Metadata Management Magic Quadrant. This is the fourth year that Gartner has published this annual report and for the fourth year in a row, Informatica has been named a Leader.[1]

Over the last few years, metadata management  has rapidly evolved from being an arcane technical discipline to a critical business priority for the modern data environment. Why is that the case?

By adding context to data, metadata provides the means to understand all the information available in an enterprise. Metadata becomes even more valuable if it is overlaid with machine learning, augmented with human knowledge, and integrated, making the wider data management processes intelligent and dynamic. That is the essence of Informatica’s approach to enterprise metadata management—an approach that has allowed us to provide an end-to-end offering that supports all business use cases enabled by unified metadata-driven intelligence.

Our customers have validated this approach with the trust and confidence that they have placed in Informatica’s metadata-driven solutions to power their data-driven transformations and address a wide range of business outcomes. In the highlights below, you will see several common themes that our customers are telling us are critical for them across different business use cases and industry verticals: broad metadata connectivity for multi-cloud and hybrid environments, AI/ML-powered automation, true enterprise-class scalability, and support for multiple use cases and personas to enable enterprise-wide adoption. Informatica is the only vendor that can offer a unified metadata management approach with AI/ML (CLAIRE)TM to deliver all of these critical capabilities through integrated solutions aligned with specific business outcomes.

  • Data Cataloging: Discover and understand all of your data and establish the metadata foundation for your enterprise with the broadest metadata connectivity, AI-powered automated data curation, collaboration and social curation, end-to-end lineage, and scalability to support tens of millions of datasets.

Metadata Management Customer Examples

A few enterprise-scale customer examples help bring this to life. New York Life is using Informatica’s Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Axon Data Governance to enable their enterprise-wide data model and putting in place an enterprise data governance program. The integration between Informatica EDC and Axon allows them to bridge the technical and business context for data and improve confidence in the data for reporting, analytics, marketing, underwriting, and other key business processes.

Another customer, Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company, is using Informatica’s solution with a broad suite of metadata-driven products to take a multi-pronged approach to their data-driven business transformation. They are putting in place a scalable data governance program, modernizing their data infrastructure with a cloud data lake and transforming their business intelligence and self-service analytics—all of which are being accelerated by metadata-driven intelligence and automation.

Nissan North America is using Informatica’s integrated data governance solution to enable their Data Governance Council and provide a common view of data for key business initiatives, while democratizing data visibility and access for self-service analytics.

Several other customers such as Mattel, Hartford Health Care, Rabobank, and KPN have also helped us share their stories through webinars and virtual summits. We would like to thank all of our customers for their support without which we wouldn’t deserve this great honor. Customers like these are taking a scalable, intelligent approach to metadata management that aligns with business outcomes and this is why we believe Gartner has named Informatica a Leader in the “2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Metadata Management Solutions.”
