Reflections on our First 100 Days as a Private Company
It has been a busy and productive three months since Informatica went private, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Informatica’s accomplishments and progress to date.
One of the big areas of focus for the company has been to ensure that our customers globally continue to experience the product innovation, service and support that they have come to expect from Informatica. Informatica also continues to deliver the best solutions for data management as evidenced by our leadership in multiple Gartner Magic Quadrants and Forrester Waves.
My leadership team and I have spent a lot of the first three months on the road and I’m happy to report that for the vast majority of our customers, our transition from public to private has been seamless. I anticipated there would be a lot more questions directed to me and the leadership team about the privatization, but that is not what I have experienced in talking with our customers. Their questions have tended to focus on normal business operations – proof that Informatica continues to be a strategic partner to our customers with regard to their business-critical investments in technologies and services.
During these first 100 days, we have also seen the fruition of several major product initiatives. We’ve announced two major products and are continuing to deliver more innovations than at any other time in our company’s history. In keeping with our commitment to all things data, we announced Informatica v10, the latest version of our award-winning data management platform, which has been expressly designed to empower our customers to modernize and simplify their enterprise data architectures and to deliver great data at nearly any speed across today’s hybrid IT environments, both cloud and on-premises.
We also introduced Informatica Big Data Management, the industry’s first big data management solution that combines big data integration, big data quality control and governance, and big data security in a single integrated solution. The new automated solution enables organizations to effectively overcome the data management challenges of big data often found with siloed and hand-coded approaches, to unleash the full potential of next generation workloads, data types, formats and use cases.
These announcements are just two recent examples to demonstrate that Informatica continues to deliver the industry-best big data management solutions for our customers. In the last few months, our visibility in the IT industry also has received a boost from our high-profile participation in key industry events.
- During the Strata + Hadoop World event, Informatica announced the $1 Million Big Data Ready Challenge to help organizations succeed in big data projects. Through the contest, Informatica will award a total of at least US$1 million in software and services to help qualifying organizations in North America deliver clear business value from their big data initiatives.
- At Dreamforce, for example, we highlighted our successful partnership with Salesforce in developing analytics-driven apps around the analytics Cloud – a major new product development area that we are now helping Salesforce to pioneer.
- At Amazon’s AWS re:Invent conference, we introduced a broad series of Cloud integration and data management capabilities on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help customers transform their IT infrastructures to run in the cloud. We were recognized as a ‘Think Big’ partner by Amazon Web Services.
- And at the Tableau Conference 2015, we announced the rollout of a set of new data management offerings purpose-built and bundled together to drive greater productivity and faster time-to-value for all users of Tableau.
Additionally, we have hosted several well-attended events of our own, including the Informatica Financial Services Summit in New York, the EMEA MDM summit, Informatica World regional events in major metros around the world and the annual GOSI (Global Outsourcers Systems Integrators) Connect in Bangalore. All of these events have ensured that we are top of mind for our customers when it comes to data integration, big data, MDM, data quality, Cloud, data security and beyond.
The first 100 days have been an exciting and rewarding journey; I look forward to a strong Q4 and taking that momentum into 2016.
