Europe might have started a little later than the U.S. with master data management, but if the inaugural Gartner MDM Summit for EMEA is any indication, it’s catching up quickly. Well over 350 registrants attended the event in London in early February, with strong representation from the UK, France, the Netherlands and other EMEA countries. Gartner Research VP Andrew White called the event a “major hit,” and I have to agree. (more…)
On Tuesday at Informatica World our Chairman and CEO, Sohaib Abbasi, delivered our conference keynote. In keeping with the theme of our conference, he outlined a vision for Data Integration that takes us all beyond traditional boundaries – and supported it with three truly profound demonstrations (which I should point out were all run using production software and which I will cover in a separate blog entry).
Take a moment to consider the changing world that we live in today – the internet has changed our lives profoundly. Today we no longer limit ourselves to using computing to transact business. We also use computing within our homes, our social lives, for healthcare, to plan vacations and way beyond. Today we talk with one another online and we share experiences online in ways that we have never before witnessed. (more…)
A few months ago we blogged about how so many state-level governments are adopting legislation limiting or mandating disclosure of payments to physicians. This spend compliance is now top of mind for many pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
With their physician data spread across the enterprise among accounts payable, expense reporting, ERP, and CTMS systems, it is no wonder that many companies are struggling to conform to the ever stricter reporting requirements differing from state to state.
Not surprisingly, many are turning to Master Data Management as a way of gaining a unified view of physician data across these disparate sources. Many are also discovering that multidomain MDM solutions not only improve compliance but lead to increased sales. Through a single MDM hub they are now able to manage and track critical product master data elements, such as drugs, devices in addition to physician data, and the added quality, accuracy and relationships they uncover has allowed them to optimize and improve their business processes and resulting sales.
