The Informatica Winter 2013 announcement included the following customer quote:
“The Winter 2013 release will accelerate the time it takes to access, integrate and deliver valuable data in order to meet our business imperatives.”
It was also noted that, “the new Informatica Cloud user interface will make the cloud integration solution even more user friendly.” There are a number of user experience enhancements with this upgrade, so I sat down with Joshua Vaughn, Principal User Experience Designer for Informatica Cloud, to learn more about the impetus behind the new design and features, what’s on the horizon for the future releases, and why user interface (UI) design is so important for cloud applications.
I spent last week at EMCWorld, and most of my time was spent engaging with customers in a variety of ways. One thing I always find interesting is the amazing consistency of priorities across our global customers.
For example, we held a session for executives, and I simply asked the open-ended question “regardless of whether it involves our products or not, what is your top IT priority this year.” The answer was clear, overwhelming and simple, yet also rather surprising.
But before I tell you the answer, I want to tell you why it was surprising to me. I keep up with the CIO surveys and the trends and buzzwords. This particular trend seems to be invisible in the media hype and yet this group of CIO’s and senior execs were almost in unanimous agreement that it was at the top of their priority list. (more…)
I’ve carried an iPhone for the past two years and won’t give it up; despite the fact that I believe its phone quality leaves something to be desired in comparison to others, such as the BlackBerry. Yes, we can blame it on the network, but for some strange reason my BlackBerry never dropped on my 30 mile commute, and it was on the same carrier. (more…)
