With all the chatter on the state of business and IT alignment, it is an opportune time for us to rethink the real-world implications of collaborative data integration. In a webinar on March 16th, Philip Russom of TDWI Research will discuss best practices and solutions that foster collaboration among the technical and business people involved in data integration. From my recent interactions with business analysts, I heard rave reviews on Informatica’s analyst-ready, data profiling tools and new workflow enhancements of Informatica business glossary introduced with Informatica 9. In this Informatica-sponsored webinar, we are tapping our own, Diby Malakar, who championed the business-IT collaboration solution for our Informatica 9 launch.
During the recent pre-production meeting with Diby, we recapped what our customers are telling us – their aspirations, opportunities and challenges in gaining greater productivity across business and IT departments. We will describe a new approach that would further strengthen the high fidelity collaboration as part of Informatica 9. In the spirit of pragmatism, Diby will also highlight how the enhanced approval workflow for business glossary is radically improving the ways that IT and business are interacting. Another area of interest for you could be the user-definable view on audit trails. This is all possible because of our metadata-driven data integration architecture.
I was fortunate enough to be in a meeting when an Informatica customer articulated the challenges of spending way too much time managing the manual voting and approval processes for business terms and definitions. They told us exactly what they wanted to see as part of the business glossary. It is great to see how that precious feedback is now in action and making a difference. It is one of our best kept secrets.
For those of you who are as impatient as I am, you can check out our ChalkTalk, Improving Productivity with Metadata Manager & Business Glossary. And of course, I hope you will join us on the March 16th webinar, as we will have a live Q&A section in an on-line chat.
