“Imagine a world in which the business and IT are collaborating together.”
This line comes from Chris Boorman’s overview of “the biggest and most significant release in the history of Informatica “ – Informatica 9. As I read his post I found myself humming the song, “Imagine” and thinking about the potential implications for data integration delivered as an on-demand service in the cloud. What does this have to do with business and IT collaborating together you say? I guess it would go something like this (with apologies to John Lennon of course):
Imagine there are no servers
It’s easy if you try
No complicated jargon between us
The software runs in the sky
Imagine IT and line of business
Collaborating every day
Imagine there’s a data integration service
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing for IT to set up
But they can work with it too
Imagine all of your SaaS applications
Living with on-premise systems in peace
You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll get started
And your data in the cloud will be integrated as one
Imagine self-service data integration
I wonder if you can
A simple business user interface
Multi-tenant and on demand
Imagine business user empowerment
And trusted information throughout your world
You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And your SaaS business users and IT will work as one
