This week, we announced the acquisition of AddressDoctor, the market leader of global address validation with coverage for over 200 countries and territories. This is another example of how we are continually working to deliver the most advanced data quality products to our customers. Address Doctor provides an address validation engine which is already fully integrated into Informatica Data Quality. This acquisition is simply another step towards market leadership for Informatica in the enterprise data quality market. Rob Karel from Forrester referred to our vision of pervasive data quality – supporting all roles, all applications, all data domains and all stages of the data integration lifecycle in his blog.
Let’s focus on “all data domains” and how the AddressDoctor acquisition supports this key criteria for successful enterprise data quality.
The Informatica Data Quality suite of products supports not just name and address data but also product data, financial data, asset data, location data, party data, etc. Traditional data quality providers focus on name and address data for a single country or region and single language script. Over time, such vendors have bolted on to their offerings and included countries and additional components to support other data domains e.g. product data. However such extensions have introduced complexities – multiple non-standard address validation engines, additional data quality components for product data and financial data. In contrast, Informatica Data Quality was always designed to manage many/multiple data domains and similarly AddressDoctor was designed to manage all countries and all languages. Therefore the acquisition allows Informatica to deliver a more simplified address validation product offering than others available in the market. In addition, Informatica is in a position to extend the Informatica data integration platform and enable address validation functionality to be more fully integrated across all stages of the data integration life cycle, e.g. as part of a profiling and scorecarding process or as part of a data cleansing process.
Of course high quality customer data is a prerequisite for many business imperatives including new customer acquisition and customer retention, improved reporting and business intelligence and operational efficiency initiatives, including MDM and single view of customer / citizen / employee / criminal projects. Informatica Data Quality and AddressDoctor will enable Informatica to apply name and address cleansing solutions more comprehensively, delivering scalable global solutions to support all applications and all volumes within an enterprise.
The addition of AddressDoctor is another exciting milestone for Informatica’s Data Quality business. It is a clear statement to the market that Informatica remains absolutely committed to providing the most advanced data quality products for our customers.
