Informatica launches industry's first on-demand data synchronization service for Cloud Computing

Chris Boorman

OK, I'm excited.  What do AAA, Dolby and Bax Global all have in common besides all being Informatica customers?  Give up?  Let me tell you … they’re all presenting at this week’s San Francisco Dreamforce event alongside our On Demand general manager, Ron Papas (you know the one who’s been ‘drinking the Kool-Aid’). Guess what they’ll be talking about … give up? Their presentation is called "Salesforce Integration – It’s not just for IT any more".

The responsibility of SaaS integration often lies outside of IT; in fact SaaS administrators have different skillsets to IT admins and these guys are going to explain why software (like ours) that addresses the needs of the SaaS admins is imperative for success in today’s business environment.

By the way, did I tell you I was excited?!  Well, I have reason to be. For the first time in a long time, the industry is witnessing a momentous shift in the way companies manage their data integration processes – and you know what?  Without us, it wouldn’t be possible!

Informatica data integration is critical for SasS!

There has been an enormous amount written recently on cloud computing and everyone is talking about whether or not the enterprise is ready for cloud computing, or which vendors can help customers meet "THE INTEGRATION CHALLENGE". Just last week, InformationWeek highlighted integration as a key concern.  The reason is actually quite simple - you see, cloud computing is really only moving your applications onto someone else's infrastructure.  While you can absolve responsibility for the availability and application maintenance, you cannot absolve responsibility for managing your data.  It's yours, not someone else's.  It's your IP.  Come on, don’t you want to own it??

Trouble is … Up until now it's been incredibly difficult to manage because you needed complex code and IT professionals to build custom scripts.  Well NOT ANY MORE!

Today we announced a major new release that helps enable cloud computing.  For the first time ever, companies can fully synchronize data between their on-premise applications and their on-demand cloud applications - from within the cloud.

So why is this important?
Now, for the first time, business users can easily synchronize all their Salesforce CRM information, including customer, product, opportunity and sales data.  Quite simply it keeps you in control of your data.  The new service automates the steps required to ensure that on-premise data is kept consistent and current with data in Salesforce CRM and the Force.com platform.

Andrew Leight, Director of platform marketing at salesforce.com is impressed:
“Informatica continues to move the integration market into the cloud with the release of their Data Synchronization Service for salesforce.com.  Data integration remains a critical success factor for not only our large enterprise accounts but also for our mid-market customers and our community of Force.com developers.  With this release, Informatica offers a comprehensive family of on demand services to meet customer needs.”
