- The campaigning is finally over and there is a glimmer of hope that we can get some actual decisions made in Washington.
- My family out East survived Sandy pretty much unscathed, although the impact to so many others has been heartbreaking. I hope we have the guts to realize we need major changes to how we manage our shorelines and infrastructure, and don’t simply repeat past mistakes.
- Our two little monsters… ahem children… (3 ½ and 1 ½) are thriving and only spend a very small proportion of their time trying to kill each other.
- I am not getting on a plane over Thanksgiving. Of course a 6 hour drive with aforementioned monsters is only a slight step up.
- I finally broke free from Blackberry (yes I am a laggard when it comes to gadgets/phones). Missing the full keyboard, but that’s about it.
- The people I work with here at Informatica are really smart, capable and driven, and they’re also fun to hang out with. Can’t ask for much more in a work environment.
- Business leaders are recognizing that data is a key to competitive advantage, and they have to start acting like they care about it. It’s good to see the vision we have been championing here come to fruition.
- Nate Silver, the ultimate data geek, is getting his day in the sun.
- There is so much innovation happening in the world of data, it’s dizzying. That’s because data is still a really hard problem to solve, and it’s only getting harder, so vendors like us need to stay on our toes.
