It’s that time again – time to reflect on the previous 12 months and make resolutions for change in the upcoming year. For me personally, the usual suspects apply: eat better, exercise more often, and spend quality time with the family. I’m happy to say that although there is always more that can be done, I usually do a pretty good job of sticking to my goals (now if only I could stay away from the dessert tray)!
Reflecting back on 2011 for the Informatica Marketplace, our resolution for the year was “Accelerate Growth” – and we exceeded even the lofty expectations we set for ourselves. Check out some of these year-end statistics:
• Over 500 Blocks (230% increase in 2011)
• Nearly 14,000 visits per month (360% increase in 2011)
• Over 1,100 downloads per month (250% increase in 2011)
• Over 80 Partners represented (220% increase in 2011)
It has been a truly fantastic year for the Marketplace, and we’ve gotten a ton of positive response from our customers, partners, and prospects around the value that this open ecosystem brings. Given our success in 2011, I’m now put in the difficult position of trying to figure out what our resolutions for 2012 should be. Fortunately, we have a few ideas.
First off, we want to get a much tighter engagement with our development community. Given the fact that Informatica has been around for nearly 20 years, there is a lot of knowledge out there that can be tapped and shared via the Marketplace. We’ve recently launched a contest for developers to submit the innovations they’ve developed, with a grand prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Informatica World. This is a great opportunity for developers to showcase their skills and share their innovations with their peers via the Marketplace – and maybe even make a little money, too!
Secondly, we’re launching a variety of initiatives to make our Partners on the Marketplace even more successful in 2012. We’re setting up a new program that will make it easier for partners to develop products in conjunction with Informatica, creating promotions that sellers can leverage to raise the visibility of their solutions on the Marketplace, and continuing our focus on ensuring that the Marketplace continues to be the most cost effective channel to reach the 125,000 members of our Data Integration community.
Finally, there’s always work that can be done on the technology side, and you can expect to see a variety of changes in the Marketplace site itself as we continue to improve its capabilities.
2012 looks to be a year full of opportunity, and we’re excited about the possibilities for the Marketplace. No matter what your New Year Resolutions are, here’s hoping that you are successful in achieving your goals this coming year. If you happen to see me hovering near the dessert tray, you’ll know I’m still working on mine!
